Citizen’s Police Academy

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a seven-week program that provides in-depth, hands-on learning about police operations, including patrol procedures, investigations, dispatch and community policing initiatives.

Area police departments bring K9 units and specialty equipment and vehicles, including a SWAT vehicle for participants to see up close.

“The Citizen’s Police Academy is a chance to strengthen the relationship between our officers and the people we serve,” said Fairview Police Chief Chris Chandler. “We want residents to walk away with knowledge and a sense of partnership. Together, we make Fairview the community we all love to call home.”

The next Citizen’s Police Academy is being planned for the fall. Classes will meet for three hours on Thursday evenings plus one Saturday. Participants must be at least 18 and live in Fairview.
